LOCATION:
Licking is located in Texas County, the Ozark Heritage Region of South Central Missouri.  Licking is 138 miles southwest of St. Louis, 100 miles east of Springfield and 35 miles south of Rolla.

POPULATION:
Licking's population is 3,124, making it the largest city in Texas County. The population for Texas County is 23,003.  Texas County is the largest county in the state.  In fact, it's larger than the state of Rhode Island.

CLIMATE:
Licking enjoys the beauty of all four seasons.  From Autumn displaying its vibrantly colored fall leaves, to Spring announcing the awakening of the redbud trees and the native dogwood, our state's tree.  The coldest month is January with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 degrees.  The hottest month is July with temperatures ranging from 85 to 95 degrees.  The average rainfall is 41 inches and the average snowfall is 10 inches.

HIGHWAYS:
U.S. Highway 63 and Missouri Highways 32 and 137 all run through Licking.  Highway 63 is Missouri's primary north-south route in the center of the state.  Access to Interstate 44 is only 35 miles north by Highway 63.  Access to four-lane U.S. 60 is 30 miles to the south by U.S. 63.
